World Youth Day is a Catholic Christian event created to celebrate the Catholic faith. Open to all denominations, World Youth Day invites all young people to come together for a week and celebrate Christ and Christianity through speakers, concerts, events, the sacraments, all leading up to a vigil and mass with the Pope. World Youth day was founded by Pope John Paul 2 to celebrate the youth, the future of the church.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC) in Temperance, MI has celebrated World Youth Day in both Koln, Germany and Sydney, Australia. OLMC is very involved in youth ministries, through the Teens Associated with God (TAG) group as well as OLMC’s new Young Adult Ministries group (for young adults ages 21-35). OLMC is excited to be traveling and preparing to go to WYD Madrid 2011.
